Field service

Industrial Equipment Installation and Field Service

Our field crews set, move, repair and modernize production equipment in plants nationwide, from bakery ovens and bottling lines to conveyors and server racks. Every job is scoped and quoted on its own.

Installed by the people who build production equipment

Since 1976, THG has designed and built ovens, proofers and conveyor lines. Our field crews install and service that equipment, and other makes too.

What the field crew does

Each service is quoted on its own, for equipment THG built and equipment it didn’t.

Equipment installation

Site walk, set, level, anchor and commission, from bakery ovens to bottling lines and server racks, with rigging and permits coordinated by THG.

Equipment relocation

Decommission, move and recommission single machines, full lines or whole plants, across town or across state lines.

Repairs and parts

Diagnosis and repair with stocked parts and parts made in our own shop.

Line down? Call, don’t fill out a form.

Call 800-356-7591. On weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central, a person answers and routes you to one of our field crew leads. We’re not a 24/7 call center, but after hours the leads call back and get a crew moving as fast as we can.

  • Triage on the phone. We talk through what the line was doing, what it’s doing now and what changed. Many lines come back up before anyone travels.
  • Parts from stock.Common failure parts, like ignitors, flex hoses, gas lines and controls, are on the shelf.
  • A root-cause write-up.Once you’re running, we tell you in writing what caused it.

Planned around your plant

Installs and relocations are planned before the crew arrives, so the downtime is the window you gave us.

Safety on your site

Our field team is OSHA trained, and we provide whatever written hazard analysis your site requires.

Common questions

Planning a job

Do you work on equipment you didn’t build?

Yes. We install, move, repair and retrofit equipment from other manufacturers, and we audit what’s there before we quote.

Can you work around our production schedule?

Yes. We work nights, weekends and holidays when the job needs it, and plan installs and moves around your planned shutdown windows.

Can you move a whole line or plant?

Yes. We decommission, move and recommission single machines, full lines or entire plants, in the same layout or a new one.

Do we need to hire a separate rigger?

No. We coordinate rigging and permits as part of the job.

Who handles the electrical work?

Electrical work that requires a license is done by our licensed electrical partner, coordinated by THG. Our crew handles the controls, programming and commissioning.

Do you work with our GC and the other trades?

Yes. We coordinate with general contractors, equipment vendors, architects and the other trades on site.

How long does an installation take?

A production line typically takes two to six weeks from truck arrival to product running at spec. Site access and tie-ins change that.

What does commissioning include?

We run and tune the equipment, close out the punch list and hand your operators a line that makes product to spec.

Can you upgrade controls without replacing the line?

Usually. We audit the existing equipment and controls first, then retrofit what needs it and keep what still works.

Is installation included when THG builds or fabricates the equipment?

No. Installation is quoted separately. Some customers install with their own crews.

Safety

Is your field team OSHA trained?

Yes. Our field team is OSHA trained.

Can you provide an AHA or other safety documents?

Yes. We provide AHAs, HRAs and any other written hazard analysis your site or GC requires.

Quotes and emergencies

How fast will we get a quote?

Most quotes go out within one business day. Jobs that need more planning or quotes from outside vendors take longer, and we’ll tell you when to expect it.

What should we send for a quote?

The equipment, the site location, what needs doing and the window you’re working with. Photos help.

Is the emergency line 24/7?

No. A person answers weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central. After hours, call the same number: the crew leads call you back and get a crew to you as fast as we can. For a line that’s down, call rather than using the request form.

Tell us about the work

Describe the equipment, the site and what needs doing, and we’ll scope it. If a line is down, call instead.
