Installation and Service
Our highly trained service technicians will ensure that your pan cleaning system is installed, inspected, and operational. In addition, we offer full service and repair services.
Over the past 35 years, The Henry Group has earned the reputation for designing and engineering high quality, high performance baking equipment for industrial baking applications. Our dry bakery pan cleaners provide superior cleaning, cost-efficient and low maintenance operation. With a Henry Group pan cleaner, you can be assured that your pans will be cleaned quickly, completely, and efficiently.
How the Pan Cleaner Works
Pans travel through the cleaner on a magnetic conveyor and are cleaned in three steps. Two counter-rotating brushes set at opposing diagonal angles loosen crumbs, seeds, toppings and baked-on debris. A stainless vacuum nozzle lifts the loosened debris off the pan, and an air knife fed by an onboard regenerative blower removes anything left as the pans exit. The vacuum and air knife together create turbulence inside the enclosure that makes the brushes more effective.
The cleaner supplies its own air and vacuum, so it needs no water and no plant air for cleaning.
Brushes and Nozzles
- Nylon brushes, with stiffer bristles for deep bread pans and softer bristles for bun pans
- A softer Teflon-rated brush for Teflon-coated pans
- Electronic brush height adjustment, with brush speed adjustable through a variable-frequency drive
- Quick-disconnect brush hubs for tool-free brush changes
- Bread and bun vacuum nozzles, with a hybrid nozzle or interchangeable nozzles for plants that run both
Controls and Safety
- Double-stacked pan detection at the infeed that stops the unit and lights a fault indicator
- Door safety switches on both sides of the brushing cabinet
- Interlocks with the upstream and downstream conveyors, so the cleaner starts and stops with the line
- UL-approved stainless electrical control panel with arc-flash protection, and CE certification available for international equipment
- LED lights inside the brushing cabinet for inspection during operation
- Wired for the buyer’s three-phase voltage, with 480 V as standard
Dust Collection
Debris is carried through stainless clamp-together ductwork to a remote cartridge-filter vacuum unit with self-cleaning pulse-jet filters and a silencer. A standard allowance of 30 feet of ductwork is included. Where the collected dust could be combustible, such as flour or sugar, options include passive explosion isolation, an explosion isolation valve, flameless venting, in-line deflagration arrester certification and spark detection in the ductwork.
Maintenance
- Brushes come out without tools and are replaced when the bristles have worn about an inch
- A belt scraper and crumb pan keep the conveyor belt clean
- Daily checks of the crumb pans and scraper tray, weekly checks of the vacuum filters and air-knife filter, and monthly checks of brush wear, gearbox oil and safeties
- Spare brush packages with a brush cart, and parts packages for common wear and drive parts

Common questions
Does the pan cleaner need water or plant compressed air?
No. It cleans dry, and the air knife runs from the machine’s own regenerative blower. The only compressed air used is a small amount for pulse-jet cleaning of the vacuum unit filters.
What happens if pans come in double-stacked?
Infeed sensors detect double-stacked pans or oversized objects and stop the unit, and a double-pan fault light comes on. Once the pans are cleared, pressing start resumes operation.
Can it clean Teflon-coated pans?
Yes. A softer Teflon-rated brush is supplied for coated pans.
Can one machine handle both bread and bun pans?
Bread and bun pans use different brushes and nozzles. Hybrid systems with a hybrid nozzle or interchangeable nozzles are available for plants that run both.
What about combustible flour or sugar dust?
THG offers options for the remote collector, including passive explosion isolation, an explosion isolation valve, flameless venting, deflagration arrester certification and spark detection in the ductwork.
