Custom Metal Fabrication

When the off-the-shelf piece won’t fit, we build the one that will. THG cuts, forms, machines and welds carbon steel, stainless and aluminum in its own Greenville, Texas shop, to your drawing or to one we draw for your sign-off.

What We Build

  • Cable tray and ladder rack: runs, transitions, drops, and the brackets and hangers that carry them
  • Hot and cold aisle containment: panels, doors, end caps, roof sections and the frames they hang on
  • Equipment skids and mounting frames for mechanical and electrical gear
  • Seismic and rack brackets, rack bases and anchor brackets
  • Sheet metal enclosures and control panels: cabinets, housings and covers, with cutouts to your panel layout
  • Catwalks, access platforms and mezzanines
  • Pipe and duct supports, and strut assemblies
  • Structural steel frames, stands and weldments
  • Legacy and obsolete parts, made from the old part or from a drawing when the original manufacturer can’t supply them

From Drawing to Dock Date

1. Send the drawing

A DXF for flat parts, a STEP file for tube and profile, or a dimensioned print. If all you have is a problem and a tape measure, we draw the part and send it back for your sign-off before anything is cut.

2. We check it before we cut it

Material, tolerance, weld access and how the part installs. Most of what goes wrong on a fabrication job is decided at the drawing stage, not at the weld.

3. Quote and schedule

Tell us the material, the quantity and the date you need parts on your dock. Fabrication is scheduled back from that date.

4. Cut, form, machine and weld

Laser cutting, press brake forming, CNC machining and welding happen in one building, so parts don’t wait at a second vendor between operations.

5. Fit and inspect

Weldments are checked against the print before they ship: dimensions, weld quality, and fit against mating parts where we have them.

6. Prep and ship

Parts are deburred, match-drilled and match-marked, with hardware, so they go together on site the way they went together on the bench. They ship palletized to your dock, and installation is available as a separate service.

Materials and Equipment

Carbon steel, stainless and aluminum, in sheet, plate, tube and structural shapes.

  • Two 6 kW TRUMPF fiber lasers: a TruLaser 1040 for flat sheet and plate and a TruLaser Tube 7000 for tube and profile (see laser cutting)
  • Press brake forming in the same building
  • Haas CNC machining: a VF-3 vertical machining center and two Y-axis turning centers, an ST-20Y and an ST-35Y, with a bar feeder for repeat parts
  • Manual lathes and two Haas knee mills for legacy and one-off parts
  • Welding in the same shop, so cut and formed parts become finished weldments without leaving the building

Coating and Installation

Structural coating is done by an outside coating partner. Tell us the coating spec when you request a quote, and it is scheduled with the fabrication.

Installation is a separate service, quoted on its own. Some customers take the parts on a pallet and install them with their own crew; others have THG’s field crew set and anchor them. Either way, the parts are designed by a shop that works alongside an installation crew.

Common questions

Do you build to our drawing, or can you design it?

Either. Send a print, a DXF or a STEP file and we build to it. If you only have the problem and the measurements, we draw it, send it back for your sign-off and build from that.

Do you take one-off parts or only production runs?

Both. A single obsolete bracket and a repeating run of containment panels go through the same shop and are quoted the same way.

Do you install what you fabricate?

We can. Installation is a separate service, quoted on its own. Some customers use THG for fabrication only; others have our field crew install.

Do you paint or coat parts?

Structural coating is done by an outside coating partner. Include the coating spec with your drawing and we schedule it with the job.

Do you build steel bridges?

Yes. Prefabricated steel bridges are built in the same shop under THG’s Roadrunner Bridge brand.

How do I get a fabrication quote?

Call 800-356-7591 or request a quote and describe the drawing; we’ll arrange to receive the files. Tell us the material, the quantity and when you need parts on your dock.

Have a drawing to price?

Send the drawing, the material, the quantity and the date you need parts on your dock.
