The Challenge
Foxtail Foods runs a high-throughput baking line in Fairfield, Ohio. Its oven couldn’t carry full color across the full width of the belt, leaving usable belt unused, and bake times were longer than they needed to be. The oven’s internals were due for a rebuild, from the belt and beds to the coloraider tubes, chain and tracker.
The Work
THG scoped a full oven rebuild and put a field crew on site for six days, led by Todd Daugherty with Graham Henry among the crew. A new belt, chevron beds, slide beds, coloraider tubes, rub rails and double chain went in, and the tracker was rebuilt end to end: return rollers, bearings, actuator, proximity and limit switches, optics and heat shields. The sixth day was startup support, with the crew on hand for the belt bakeoff and the first production runs.
The Outcome
By startup, Foxtail was running product across the entire width of the oven with full color, something it had never been able to do, and had taken two minutes off the bake time. See oven rebuilds, upgrades and repairs.
“Oven rebuild is completed and looks fantastic! With the product we have ran so far, we were able to go the entire width of the oven with full color, something we have never been able to do. We also took 2 minutes off the bake time. We appreciate all the help and hard work that was put into it.”
